Yahoo plus Bing equals Google E-mail

Several months ago Microsoft entered into a marketing partnership with Yahoo! to combine search results and advertising into a power play against Google. With the recent launch of Microsoft’s redesigned search interface Bing and newly deployed map solution, the combined Yahoo! and Microsoft arrangement has created a compelling solution to compete with Google.

Of particular interest to this merger of giants is the possible impact to Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO pros have been watching this deal congeal into its current day offering and tracking implications to the SEO trade. Notably, how will the Bing and Yahoo! combination search engine be different or similar to Google’s search engine? Keep in mind that every search engine presents SERPs (search engine result pages) slightly differently than their competitors, so understanding how the larger ones work is important to keeping web sites on the first page of results. Given Google’s continued dominance in search engine traffic, it’s not likely that the Bing/Yahoo! search engine will become priority for SEO pros, but it will definitely be on their radar as a phase two consideration for most search engine optimization projects.
